The session begins with an in-depth look at exam dynamics, including the structure, format, and key requirements of the PMP exam. Participants will gain a clear understanding of what to expect on test day and how to navigate the Prometric Testing Center regulations to ensure a seamless experience. The instructor will also guide you through creating a tailored exam strategy based on your strengths and learning style, setting you up for efficient and focused preparation.

The latter part of the day transitions into the fundamentals of project management, starting with PMI’s framework and foundational concepts. Participants will explore key definitions, principles, and an introduction to Agile methodologies, offering a comprehensive perspective on hybrid project management approaches. The session then delves into the Initiating Process Group, highlighting its two core processes and their practical applications. Attendees will actively decompose sample exam questions, learning effective strategies to analyze and answer them with confidence. By the end of day one, participants will have a strong grasp of the foundational knowledge, a clear study strategy, and the confidence to approach the next stages of the course with focus and precision.

Day #2: Planning and Process Mastery

Day two builds on the foundational knowledge from day one, focusing on the critical processes involved in planning and managing projects effectively. The session begins with a comprehensive review of day one’s material to ensure a strong grasp of key concepts before diving into the Planning Process Group. This group encompasses 24 processes, which are thoroughly explored with detailed discussions and practical examples to demonstrate their application in real-world scenarios. Special emphasis is placed on risk management planning, resource allocation, and defining project objectives to align with stakeholder expectations.

The second half of the day delves into tools and techniques essential for successful project execution. Participants will analyze sample exam questions related to planning, learning strategies to approach complex scenarios and optimize their exam performance. Through guided exercises and collaborative discussions, attendees will gain confidence in their ability to deconstruct processes and apply them effectively. Homework assignments will reinforce the day’s lessons, ensuring participants are prepared to build upon this foundation in the following sessions.

Day #3: People, Business Environment, and Agile Integration

Day three shifts focus to the human and organizational elements of project management while introducing concepts from the PMBoK 7th Edition. The day starts with a recap of day two, followed by an exploration of project management principles, such as leadership, teamwork, stakeholder engagement, and value delivery. Key topics like governance, systems thinking, and complexity are discussed in depth to help participants understand the broader context of managing projects in dynamic environments.

The afternoon transitions into Agile methodologies, highlighting the mindset, values, principles, and frameworks that distinguish Agile from traditional approaches. Participants will engage in hands-on exercises, such as creating user stories and practicing Agile roles, to reinforce their understanding of iterative project management techniques. Real-world examples and collaborative activities make the concepts tangible, ensuring that attendees are prepared to apply both predictive and adaptive strategies to their projects. Homework assignments will provide an opportunity to practice Agile concepts further and deepen their comprehension of the day’s material.

Day #4: Advanced Agile and Exam Readiness

The final day of the course focuses on advanced Agile practices and comprehensive exam preparation. The session begins with a review of day three, followed by deeper dives into Agile frameworks and methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog management, and performance measurement techniques like burn-down charts and velocity tracking. Participants will explore prioritization methods, such as MoSCoW and the Risk Value Matrix, and gain hands-on experience in sprint retrospectives and release planning.

As the day progresses, the emphasis shifts to exam readiness. Attendees will revisit exam strategies and review the most challenging topics covered throughout the course. In-class exercises and practice quizzes will ensure participants leave feeling confident in their ability to succeed on the PMP exam. The session concludes with a discussion of post-class study plans, empowering participants to continue their preparation effectively. To be eligible for the Project Management Professional (PMP®) exam, candidates must meet specific requirements. These include holding a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent four-year degree), having 36 months of experience leading projects, and completing 35 hours of project management education or training. Alternatively, candidates who have earned their CAPM® certification also fulfill the education requirement for the PMP® exam.

Depending upon your work and personal schedule, It is in your best interest to schedule your PMP exam within 30-45 days of finishing the PMP exam prep course. Individual preparation time
depends upon your project management knowledge, work experience, education, test-taking ability, and dedication. Expect to invest ~10-20+ hours of personal effort above and beyond 8
classroom training hours. Most of your time outside of class should be spent on answering/reviewing practice questions.

Alternatively, candidates who have earned their CAPM® certification also fulfill the education requirement for the PMP® exam.

According to most PMP® exam experts, the most challenging topics on the PMP® exam are often considered to be situational questions that require applying project management principles to complex, real-world scenarios, which often involve intricate decision-making based on the PMBOK guide, particularly when dealing with multiple seemingly viable answer choices across different project management domains like scope, schedule, cost, and risk.

According to the PMI’s official content outline, approximately 50% of the PMP® exam questions are related to Agile or hybrid project management approaches, meaning a significant portion of the exam focuses on Agile concepts. Key points we stress to candidates are:

  • The PMP® exam is not solely agile:
    • While Agile is a large part of the PMP exam, it’s important to note that the exam also covers traditional project management methodologies (predictive approaches).
  • Hybrid focus:
    • Many questions on the PMP exam will involve scenarios where Agile practices are integrated with traditional methods, testing your understanding of hybrid project management.

PMI does NOT publish the pass rate and statistics. However, if you can consistently score 65%+ on average between all your quizzes and practices exams, you will be in good shape to pass the PMP Exam on the first try. A common misconception about the exam is that all questions have equal weightage. The questions in the PMP exam have different weights depending on their difficulty. A tough question has higher weightage than an easy one. The PMP exam pass rate depends on how many tough questions you answer. Each candidate will have a different passing score because:

  • Each individual candidate gets a different set of questions. So, each question will have a different passing score.
  • The difficulty level is different for each candidate. The passing score is also dependent on the difficulty.
  • Easier questions have a higher passing score, whereas difficult questions have a lower passing score.

As of October of 2024, the PMP® certification exam consists of:

  • 180 total questions
  • 230 minutes (3 hours, 50 minutes) to complete
  • Two 10-minute breaks
  • A combination of multiple-choice, multiple responses, matching, hotspot, and limited fill-in-the-blank questions

The questions fall into three domains:

  • People (42% of exam)
    • Composing a little less than half of the exam, the people section includes questions on leading and building teams, managing conflict, supporting virtual teams, mentoring, and other related topics.
  • Process (50% of exam)
    • The process section tests your knowledge on the methodology of seeing a project through to completion. You might be asked about managing budgets and other resources, scheduling, handling changes in the project, and determining the best methodologies for the project.
  • Business environment (8% of exam)
    • The business environment portion of the exam deals broadly with the more business-minded aspects you’ll have to tackle as a project manager, like compliance, delivering value, and supporting organizational change. Roughly half of the content represents predictive project management approaches, while the other half represents Agile or hybrid approaches.

The short answer is You may think you will never be ready and hesitate to schedule your exam. Following the guidelines provided in the preparatory class, and taking advantage of the online resources available will enable you to pass the exam.

Immediately after the exam prep class, you will feel exhausted. Give yourself a break and relax for ~48 hours. Ideally, you should schedule your exam within two weeks of the last day of class; realizing the longer you wait, the more challenging it will be to recall content covered in class. Follow the exam strategy provided in the PM-ProWORLD exam prep class. Memorize the Process Group and Knowledge Area Mapping, run-through ~500+ practice questions outside of class and achieve on average ~70% score, and you are good to go.

Once eligible to take the exam, the examination scheduling instructions received from PMI will instruct the applicant to contact Pearson Vue. The menu allows you to select the nearest testing location chosen from available dates and times to take the exam. When deciding your schedule, give adequate consideration to your preferred time of day and traffic patterns on the way to the testing facility.

You can now take your PMP exam online via a secure platform using proven exam delivery technology with Pearson VUE. The online exam is exactly the same as the version administered at a test center. You are required to be video monitored by a live proctor during your exam and you will need to schedule it ahead of time. Virtual exam appointments are offered 24/7 so you should be able to find a time that is convenient for your schedule.

Both the online proctored testing and center-based testing option for the PMP exam have multiple 10 min breaks. You do not need to take the entire break but are more than welcome to. The exam is divided into three parts and your break will start once you review and submit each 60-question part of the exam. Please note, that you will NOT be able to review questions from the first part of the exam after you submit it and start your break.
